Mutahhir means Clean and save yourself from Shirk, Ignorance and Impurity of Satan.
Allah says:
When He covered you with drowsiness, as tranquility from Him and sent down upon you water from the heavens, so that He might Clean (لِيُطَهِّرَكُمْ) you with it, and remove from you the impurity of Satan, and so that He might strengthen your Qalb and make you firm therewith.

NONE CAN TOUCHED THE QURAN EXCEPT THE CLEAN (الْمُطَهَّرُونَ):

A Messenger from Allah recites the Cleaned (مُطَهَّرَةً) scriptures. Wherein are establish writings, those are Honoured, Exalted and Cleaned (مُطَهَّرَةٍ), So, whoever wills may take admonition form this. It is the Noble Qur’an, recorded already in a protected written, none can touched except by the Clean (الْمُطَهَّرُونَ), this is revelation from the Lord of the worlds. Verily, the mosque whose foundation was laid from the first day on Taqwa means; "Just made to listen and preaching of Allah's commandments, taking admonition and to end their differences," is more worthy that you stand therein, therein are men who love to be Clean (يَتَطَهَّرُوا). So Clean (فَطَهِّرْ) your Dress, and keep away from filth, Indeed Allah loves those who make themselves Clean (الْمُطَّهِّرِينَ).
O Rasool take Sadaqah from their wealth in order to Clean (تُطَهِّرُهُمْ) and Purify them with it, and tell them Salah means "Allah's Command". Indeed, your Salah means telling Allah's Command is a source of peace for them and Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
Allah says:

Indeed this is an admonition. So, whoever wills may take this admonition. It is recorded in those scripts that are Honoured, Exalted, Cleaned (مُطَهَّرَةٍ).

Have they not come to know that Allah is He who accepts repentance from His slaves and accepts Sadaqat, and that Allah is Most-Relenting, Very-Merciful?

HOW TO BE CLEAN (مُطَهِّر)???

O you who believe Clean (وَطَهِّرْ) your House from "Shirk" and when you consult the Messenger in private, offer something in Sadqa before your consultation, that is better and Clean (وَأَطْهَرُ) for you, but if you find nothing, then Allah is Most-Forgiving, Very-Merciful.
O you who believe, when you rise for Salah means taking commands and admonition from Quran. Clean (فَاطَّهَّرُوا) your hands, feet and your personality according to Allah's verses from the sin and evils wherever they linked and also your objectives, plans, intentions and actions. Allah does not want to place you in difficulty, but He wants to Clean (لِيُطَهِّرَكُمْ) you, to complete His Favour to you that you may be thankful.
O women who believe in the Prophet! You are not like any other women, if you observe Taqwa, then be not soft in speech, lest he in whose Qalb is a disease should be moved with desire, but speak to the point in an honourable manner. Stay in your houses, and do not display yourselves like that of the times of ignorance, establish Salah (Commands) for Allah, and pay Zakah (Purify your wealth and deeds), obey Allah and His Messenger. O members of the house; Allah only intends to keep all sorts of filth away from you and to make you Clean (وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ) through a perfect Cleanness (تَطْهِيرًا). Take admonition from Allah’s verses and the wisdom that is recited in your homes.
When you ask any thing from women, ask them from a Hijaab, that is better for the Cleanness (أَطْهَرُ) of your and their Qalb. When you have divorced women, and they have reached their waiting period, do not prevent them from marrying their husbands when they mutually agree with fairness and stay away from women during menstruation; and do not have intimacy with them until they are Cleansed (يَطْهُرْنَ). Surely Allah loves those who are repenting, and keep themselves Clean (الْمُتَطَهِّرِينَ), thus the advice is given to everyone of you who believes in Allah and in the Hereafter.
Those who hurry towards disbelief, be they from those who say with their mouths, “We believe”, while their Qalb does not believe, or from the Jewish. They are listeners to the fallacy, and listen to other also. They change the words from their places; by saying that, "If you are given this according to your Dogmas take it, but if its not given like this, then avoid it." The one whom Allah wills to put to trial, you cannot do anything for him against Allah, they are those whose Qalb Allah did not intend to Clean (يُطَهِّرَ), for them there is humiliation in this world, and a great punishment in the Hereafter.
Allah says:
And when We pointed out for Ibrahim the place of the House saying, “Do not associate anything with Me as My partner, and Clean (وَطَهِّرْ) My House for those who make Tawaf, and Qiyam and Ruku‘ and Sujud.
(22:26)

Then, once you have had the meal, just disperse, and do not seeking to remain for conversation. This hurts the Prophet, but he feels shy of you, but Allah is not shy of the truth and when you ask any thing from them (the wives of the Prophet), ask them from a Hijaab. That is better for the Cleanness (أَطْهَرُ) of your Qalb and their Qalb. It is not allowed for you that you hurt Allah’s Messenger, nor that you ever marry his wives after him. Indeed, it would be an enormity in the sight of Allah.
(33:53)

Thus the advice is given to everyone of you who believes in Allah and in the Hereafter. This is more Pure and Clean (وَأَطْهَرُ) for you. Allah knows and you do not know.

They ask you about menstruation. Say: “It is an impurity. So, keep away from women during menstruation; and do not have intimacy with them until they are Cleansed (يَطْهُرْنَ). But when they are Cleansed (تَطَهَّرْنَ), then go to them from where Allah has commanded you.
