Tawakkal (تَوَكَّلْ) means trust and confidence:
Follow someones, with the confidence that he will never cheat you is called Tawakkal:
Place your Trust (وَتَوَكَّلْ) in the Ever-Living who cannot die, and do His Glorification with Praise, He is enough to be aware of the sins of His slaves; Who sees you wherever you stand and your movement among those who prostrate themselves. Surely, He is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing. The secrets of the heavens and the earth belong to Him, and the whole affair shall be returned to Him. So do His slavery placing your Trust (وَتَوَكَّلْ) in Him and your Lord is not unaware of whatever you do.
There is none believer except the one to whom Allah is mentioned, feel fear in his Qalb and when His Verses are recited to him, it makes more developed in his Eimaan; and he put his Trust (يَتَوَكَّلُونَ) in his Lord. Whoever do Taqwa to Allah, He brings forth a way out for him, provides him provision from where he does not even imagine and He is sufficient for him.
If Allah helps you, there is none to overcome you and if He abandons you then, who is there to help you after that??? The believers should place their Trust (فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ) in Allah. So, whatever has been given to you is an enjoyment of the worldly life and that which is with Allah is much better, and durable for those who believe and place their Trust (يَتَوَكَّلُونَ) in their Lord. Who abstain from the major sins and shameful acts; when they get angry, they forgive and those who migrate in the way of Allah by placing Trust (يَتَوَكَّلُونَ) in their Lord and kept patient, after they were oppressed, then Allah shall give them a good place in the world, and the reward of the Hereafter is much greater. So do not obey the infidels and the hypocrites, and ignore any hurt from them, place your Trust (وَتَوَكَّلْ) in Allah, Allah is sufficient to take care of all matters.
If you ask them; Who created the heavens and the earth, they will certainly say, “Allah.” Say, “Have you ever consider the fact about those, whom you invoke other than Allah??? If Allah intends to cause some harm to me, are they able to remove the harm??? Or if He intends to bless me with mercy, are they able to hold back His mercy??? “Allah is sufficient for me, those who Trust (يَتَوَكَّلُ) place their Trust (الْمُتَوَكِّلُونَ) in Him.” “He is the Rahman; we have believed in Him, so, you will soon come to know who is in open error.” “Nothing good or evil can ever reach us except what Allah has written for us. He is our Master, and in Allah alone the believers must place their Trust (فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ).”
Allah says:

If you ask them as to who created the heavens and the earth, they will certainly say, “Allah.” Say, “Have you ever consider about those, whom you invoke other than Allah??? If Allah intends to cause some harm to me, are they able to remove the harm caused by Him? Or if He intends to bless me with mercy, are they able to hold back His mercy???” Say, “Allah is sufficient for me. In Him Trust (يَتَوَكَّلُ) those who Trust (الْمُتَوَكِّلُونَ).”
(39:38)
Say, “He is the Rahman; we have believed in Him, and in Him we placed our Trust (تَوَكَّلْنَا). So, you will soon come to know who is in open error.”
